Research indicates that modern immersive experiences like Virtual Reality (VR) and outdoor and indoor immersive experiences improve cognitive and motor skills in special needs populations. Also, special needs students are less likely to participate in social, recreational, and hobby activities that all of us need to have a quality and self-supporting life. Dr. Sullivan, a UNT graduate in education and cognitive science is a skilled researcher, and is currently engaged in original research into specific benefits of these environments to special needs students.
Our team consists of Dr. Sullivan and Carrie E. Sullivan, M.F.A. in digital arts and technology. Dr. Sullivan is also a lifelong educator and worked for 22 years in the computer industry as a computer scientist, inventor, and senior manager for several major personal computer companies. We are designing and developing new VR apps that will provide benefits and assistive technology for special needs students.
